Study finds BIOS Trifocal IOL effective for cataract and presbyopia treatment
The BIOS Trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) effectively improves vision across near, intermediate, and far distances in patients undergoing cataract surgery, while also enhancing quality of life with minimal complications.
Researchers assessed patients at 30 and 90 days post-implantation, measuring visual acuity, defocus curves, and patient-reported outcomes using the NEI-VFQ 25 survey. There were significant gains in uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity, as well as near vision. The defocus curve confirmed functional vision from +1.5 D to -3.0 D, indicating effective performance across near, intermediate, and far distances. Quality of life scores also improved significantly, with no major complications reported.
